Craig Edward Amshel, M.D. is East Hillsborough’s first fellowship-trained Colon & Rectal Surgeon performing Colon, Rectal, Anal, General and advanced Laparoscopic surgery and Endoscopy at our in-office Surgical Suite in Brandon and Tampa. His office is located at 1046 Cypress Village Blvd., Sun City Center.
Dr. Amshel was born and raised in Los Angeles and obtained his B.S. in psychobiology at UCLA and his M.D. at the University of Kansas. Following a General Surgery internship in Roanoke, VA, Dr. Amshel completed his General Surgery residency at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ.
Fulfilling his ROTC commitment, Dr. Amshel jumped out of airplanes and spent two years as a General Surgeon at Ft. Leonardwood, MO and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He then accomplished his Colon & Rectal fellowship at the University of Miami.
Dr. Amshel has published multiple articles and has spoken at many national conferences about various surgical topics and has published a humorous book about fraternity pledging titled Fall ’86.
During his free time, Dr. Amshel enjoys spending time with his wife, son and daughter, bicycling, karate, boy scouts, playing tennis and volleyball, and skiing.
Joan Marie Amshel
Joan Amshel is a Certified Physician Assistant who joined Absolute Surgical Specialists in 2017. Joan is dedicated to providing excellent patient care and a high level of customer service. She has over twenty-five years of experience with a diverse background in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Robotic Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, General Surgery and Colorectal Surgery.
Joan obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Providence College in 1986. After working as a Psychiatric Research Assistant at Yale University, she was accepted into the competitive Quinnipiac Physician Assistant Master of Health Science program, in which she graduated in 1997.
Joan is a member of the AAPA and FAPA who in her spare time loves to cook, travel, and spend time with her husband and two children.
Dr Sehres
Dr Sehres has over 25 years experience in adult and childhood medicine. Born in Miami,Florida, he completed his medical school training at the University of Miami School of Medicine. He completed his post graduate internship and residency program in Family Medicine at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
Dr Sehres sees patients ages 16 and older. He treats a wide range of medical problems which include acute and chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, hypertension , high cholesterol, migraines , mental health issues, orthopedic issues, dermatology and men and women's health concerns.
Dr Sehres takes most insurances, Medicare and self pay patients.
Shanda
Shanda has been the Office Manager for Absolute Surgical Specialists since June 2023, but first joined the team in February of 2021 as Front Office Coordinator. She works as a liaison between our patients and staff, coordinates the operations and procedures (Scheduling, obtaining insurance authorizations, etc.), evaluates our Quality Control and Safety at our office and OR Surgical Suite, and as our Risk Manager, she maintains our compliance with Florida’s many regulations.
Shanda has worked in the medical field for over 12 years with previous experience in Ophthalmology, Optometry, and Physical Therapy. She is very passionate about the medical field as she loves to help others.
She is dedicated to making sure each patient has a positive experience here at Absolute Surgical Specialists as well as our staff!
